The Parent Cortical Mass Blog is for parents striving to get more knowledgeable and skillful at managing kids’ learning and education.
We focus on four questions:
- What does research in learning science have to say to parents?
- What controversies drive American educational policy?
- Who influences education policy? What do they have to say?
- What are the top technologies, books, games, and toys that strengthen kids learning?
PCM does not promote a specific political or child-rearing ideology. We provide information and resources, not advice. Parents apply their knowledge on these topics in ways consistent with their beliefs and judgments.
Who is Parent Cortical Mass?
Ava Arsaga
Founder, Editor, Chief Blogger
Ava Arsaga is behind the content and business matters for the Parent Cortical Mass Blog. She is also Founder/Editor of EdBizWatch. Her background includes time spent in the video game industry as an executive at Oddworld Inhabitants; as a human resource executive at a litigation information management company; as an Assistant Dean for advising at a small liberal arts college; as a teacher in a state educational clinic for students outside the regular schools system, as a headmaster of a parent organized school. She is the parent of two grown-up kids. Her degree in both elementary and secondary education is from the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of North Dakota. One of her life-long quests is to learn how parents can creatively optimize the informal learning time they oversee. Find me on:
